Wellness Initiatives Opens Its Doors: Find Your Voice

Beatrice provides counseling and therapy services to children, adolescents and adults.  She promotes mental health and wellness through outreach and consultation.   Beatrice works with a wide range of emotional and behavioral issues for a diverse group of people.  Issues that she is competent to address, but not limited to, include stress, depression, anxiety, self-esteem, personality disorders, identity issues, life circumstantial issues, women’s issues, sexual assault, diversity issues, grief and loss, veteran issues, trauma, PTSD, career decision making, assertiveness and coping skills.  Throughout her career Beatrice has identified strongly as a multicultural competent practitioner.  She has dedicated much of her career to the provision of mental health services, clinical outreach and civic engagement" with "all and for all".   Beatrice focuses on women and children issues, sexualized violence, diversity issues, crisis and trauma, university counseling, counseling center administration and outreach. Her commitment to service within the mental health and sexual assault world has enabled her to connect her service to communities on local, regional, national and international levels. Her outreach experience has been shaped by various groups and communities she has had the opportunity to engage. She has done disaster mental health outreach in Louisiana, Mississippi, Central America, South Africa and Haiti.

Beatrice is an interactive therapist.  Her therapeutic approach is to provide support and practical feedback to help clients effectively address personal life challenges.  She integrates complementary methodologies and techniques to offer a highly personalized approach tailored to each client.  She states, "although people may have in common some basic needs, people are different which results in no two therapeutic processes being the same".   She works with individuals to help them build on their strengths and attain the personal growth they are committed to accomplishing.

Beatrice is a native of Philadelphia Pennsylvania.   Her professional quest for human understanding, exposure to cultural differences and multicultural experiences was in part met through educational opportunities.   Beatrice has studied and trained in various areas of the country.   She received her B.A, degree in psychology from Fisk University in Nashville, Tennessee.   She earned an M.A. degree in Political Science from Villanova University in Villanova, Pennsylvania and an MS degree from the State University of New York at Albany, Albany, New York. Beatrice received the Ph.D in Counseling Psychology, from Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo, Michigan.   As part of her doctoral studies, she completed an internship at the University of Memphis, Memphis Tennessee.
